Lorena completed her postpartum doula training and received her certification in Oakland August 2019. She has been a nanny for at least 10 years, experienced working with infants, toddlers and school age children. Along with her doula training she has received basic training on breast feeding such as the different positions on how to hold the baby to support a more effective latch on the breast.
Lorena has taken child development courses at Los
Medanos community college, completing 12 units and received a Teacher Assistant certification. She chose to become a Postpartum Doula because she is passionate about helping parents transition into the new lifestyle they have ahead of them. Prior to becoming a doula, she enjoyed and felt rewarded when she was supporting other mothers in her mom’s group and knew it was something she would love to do as a career.
Lorena’s strengths is the ability to connect with people because she is empathetic and active listener, culturally aware, patient and very passionate about helping others. She looks forward to serving families, because as a mother herself, she understands how difficult it can be to adjust into life after the birth of the baby.
