Aunga is a Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Breastfeeding Counselor, an experienced Nanny of many years, and a mother of three grown up children.
As a Nanny, Aunga witnessed first-hand what new parents went through during the postpartum period. Many, if not all, looked exhausted and felt alone as they tried to cope with the arrival of a newborn, a tiny but independent individual with a mind of his/her own.
As a mother herself, this was not something new for Aunga. She had lived it. It doesn’t matter whether parents are new or experienced, they all feel ill-prepared for the task before them and because of that, Aunga believes that a mother of a newborn also needs a doula to help care for her.
As a postpartum doula, Aunga assist families during the period immediately following the birth of the baby. She helps “mother the mother” by providing emotional support, educating and giving guidance in infant care, nurtures the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn and assists in light household tasks
To Aunga, this profession is a calling and she finds great joy doing it. In her free time she likes to read, cook, and listen to music.
