When she was pregnant with her first child, Callai read every book about pregnancy and birth that she could get her hands on, and she hasn't stopped reading about birth since. Becoming a mother radically realigned every aspect of her life, and after experiencing two empowering births firsthand, she found a new calling in the childbirth world.
Callai is trained and certified as a childbirth educator and a birth doula. She believes that childbirth is an important rite of passage, one that is transformative and that creates memories that stay with us for a lifetime. Her goal is to help parents prepare for this process through evidence-based education and personalized emotional support. With these tools, new parents can achieve a satisfying birth experience and begin their parenting journey with a sense of strength and self-confidence. She is eager to pass on the knowledge and skills she has gathered to the families she serves.
She lives in Oakland with her husband and two children. When she isn't chasing her kids around, she enjoys listening to music (mostly classical), playing music (mostly piano and banjo) and reading novels (mostly 19th-early 20th century English pastoral romances).
